The Evolution

Along with unparalleled expertise, Evolution Charter Fishing & Pleasure Cruises offers a unique dose of hospitality. We invite you to climb aboard and, like we did long ago, fall in love with the beautiful waters of the greater Grand Haven area—our happy place.

CELEBRATE THE SERENE

With decades of experience navigating the Grand Haven waterways, the Evolution captains are more than ship operators—they’re master tour guides. On our pleasure cruises, we invite you to celebrate milestones, ask once-in-a-lifetime questions (will you…), remember lives well lived, or simply enjoy the thoughtful sites and peaceful sounds of the lakeshore. We’re so grateful to’ve facilitated all of these experiences. And so we can again, for you and yours.

WHAT'S THE CATCH

Salmon, steelhead, brown trout, lake trout, and perch! Look no further for your premier Lake Michigan fishing experience. We believe that anyone can and everyone should fish! So, we’ll always tailor the excursion to fit your needs. Packages range from half to full day outings for groups of up to six. Our premium equipment intrigues the most experienced troller while still engaging the young and novice. Whatever the occasion and whomever your loved ones, the Evolution crew is honored to host you…hosting them.

Crew

Captain Roger

Captain Roger has been fishing the lakes and streams of Michigan for over 60 years.  In the early 70's when we had to tip - toe through the dead eilwives on the beaches we heard about the DNR stocking the big salmon, we purchased our first boat, made our own downriggers and equipment, and the search for salmon began.  Formerly captain of the University Research boat.  He received his Coastguard 100 ton Master Mariners captains license and has been charter fishing for 18 years.

Captain Chad

Captain Chad, son of Captain Roger, has been fishing the big lake since the beginning.  About the time Chad was born was when salmon fishing was just beginning to heat up.  At first in diapers rocking to sleep to the waves of our first boat, a 15' Owens with a 50 HP Merc he would awaken to the madness of a big king on dad's line.  Chad is also a Coastguard approved 100 ton Master Mariner and has been helping with charters for 18  years.

First Mate Elijah

Firstmate, Elijah, was born the year we started charter fishing.  Very similar to his dad, Chad, he has spent all of his life involved with boating and fishing.  His job of cleaning and helping maintain the boats started when he was very young.  Currently his job is the keep the boat clean and orderly, organize the tackle, rods, and equipment.  And get intel on what, where, when, and how, to make your fishing experience the best it can be.  Elijah is registered with the Michigan Charter Boat Association as a First Mate.

Our Cruising Destinations

We head down the river under the Grand Haven draw bridge past the freighter ships and the power plant where the river widens into the downtown area. We pass the Grand Haven municipal marina and the outdoor theater and the beginning of the popular Grand Haven board walk. The boardwalk that stretches from downtown to the Grand Haven State Park and Pier. Then we head right past the Grand Haven Coast Guard Station. These are the number 1 and 2 attractions in the Grand Haven area.
